SKILL

SKILLS are the physical abilities, techniques, and
tactics you need to play a game of netball successfully.

SMART

Netballers need to play SMART and think tactically, 6S Netball encourage all athletes to think for themselves and incorporate SMARTS into their games!

SPEED

SPEED is a key skill within netball in attack and defence. In attack you need speed to change direction, accelerate and decelerate at the right times and sprint from your opponent to receive the ball. You also need SPEED in your passes to get the ball flowing through court.

In defence, SPEED, particularly acceleration, is essential in order to not only stay with your attacker, but also to move off your opponent and go for the intercept!

STAMINA

Last all netball season by following these important STAMINA tips:

  • Eat right and stay hydrated.
  • Get your body ready, don't leave it to the last minute.
  • Cross-Train to diversify your workouts away from the court.
  • Exercise moderately, definitely don't overtrain.
  • Sleep.

STRENGTH

In order to keep a steady position when receiving the ball, to maintain speed while running, and to compete for space to jump, STRENGTH is required in netball.

STRENGTH training is key to a netball team's performance because playing the game requires strong athletes.

Team Work - Gymfit X Webflow Template

SYNERGY

SYNERGY is the working together of two or more athletes, where the combined effort is greater than the effectiveness of the individual alone.

TEAMWORK makes the dream work!

The story of 6s netball

In our Coaching style, we teach children skills in a way that promotes ownership of their learning and training and in which empowers them. The goal is that every child leaves each coaching session having learnt a new skill they can use on court the next time they play.

We've facilitated a number of netball clinics, workshops, club training, school training and gala days over the last 5 years and are fully competent in this area.

Our workshops

For ages 5 and up, our workshops give children the opportunity to train with incredibly knowledgeable coaches who will guide them towards developing their netball skills along with them enjoying being part of a team environment!

We purposely cap our participant numbers in our boutique-style workshops, this allows all children to receive personalised coaching, and still be participating within a team environment setting.

Our coaching approach focuses on detection and correction.  Athletes will always leave our workshops knowing that what they have just learnt, can be replicated at their next club training, next netball game, or even added to their own home program.

What THE beloved NETBALLERS and their parents say

“fresh, well planned and executed”

Our daughter had the privilege of being coached by Nicole in Northern Tasmania for 3 years. This was within an important period of time in her development, with Nicole coaching her through the NetSetGo program and in the junior division, until Nicole moved Interstate.Nicole’s coaching techniques were always fresh, well planned and executed. She is versatile and completely committed. She motivated her team and encouraged them through any situation on and off the court.
Therefore it was easy for our daughter (and her team members) to respect Nicole and for them to love having her as their coach. We loved Nicole’s optimistic attitude and her communication throughout the season.
It was an incredible loss for Netball in Tasmania when she moved to Queensland.

“could not have asked for a better coach”

Nicole Manshanden was my daughter’s first netball coach. Nicole coached her from 2019 to 2021, which included two NetSetGo seasons and one season of the Northern Tasmanian Netball Association (NTNA) junior roster. Nicole is passionate about netball. She is passionate about sharing her love of the sport and developing young people to be the best they can be. She understands what it takes to win and expects hard work and commitment from her players.

From a parent’s perspective, she is exceptionally good at developing players’ skills and teaching them passages of play. Despite her expectation to work hard, her coaching style centres on friendship, teamwork and having fun along the way! In their first year of competitive netball, my daughter’s team (Nicole’s team), competed in Division 1 of the Under 11 NTNA junior roster, narrowly missing a place in the final. Given most players were only nine years of age, their competitiveness was a testament to Nicole’s coaching skills.Following Nicole’s move to Queensland, “her team” went on to win Under 11, Division 1 in 2022, which reflects the solid foundation she provided.
My daughter could not have asked for a better coach to start her on her netball journey.

"She was an asset to the coaching team"

Nicole spent time at Cavaliers State League Netball Club from 2019 – 2021. In that time, she began her journey in our Cavaliers Development Academy – a taster program for aspiring athletes as the segway for the next level. In this program she was able to connect and develop strong relationships with athletes and build good rapports with other coaching and support team officials.

Nicole’s passion for netball, especially younger athletes, is her strength. Her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and develop as a coach to get the best out of the athletes is without a doubt her greatest strength. She identified her ’netball language’ and ‘short, sharp delivery’ as one of the areas she wanted to continue to improve on therefore Nicole soon moved to an assistant coach role for the 19 and under state league in the TNL where she worked in a collaborative team to plan, deliver and reflect across the year. Nicole accessed mentoring from coaches within the club as well as specialist mentoring from ex diamonds coach Lisa Alexander to continue to improve her technical and tactical development. She was an asset to the coaching team and wider club who went above and beyond to give back to the sport that she was so passionate about.

“every child is included, recognised and rewarded”

Nic is an amazing coach - she is so focused on developing the kids in a fun and supportive environment. My daughter’s technique, skill level and love for the game has flourished with Nic.

Nic encourages individual player development, but instils a team first environment, making sure every child is included, recognised and rewarded.

“I want her to be my coach forever!”

Nic has taught me so much over the last 12 months.
I love going to her sessions, even though she works us hard. She always gives me really good feedback so that I can improve.
Nicole makes me want to be a better player and the best that I can be.
I want her to be my coach forever!
